  • Do I need to be fit to start training?

    Short answer — no.

I work with people wherever they are in their journey. I enjoy working with beginners to build effective programmes and establish strong, lasting routines.

  • I have an injury — is it safe to train?

This really depends on your situation and the nature of the injury. However, the answer is probably yes.

The vast majority of the time it is safe to train with an injury and is to be encouraged. Injuries are inevitable in life (even more so as we age) and learning how to adapt your training and continue to move with injuries is vital to staying in good physical and mental health.

If you have any minor injuries or localised discomfort we will be able to modify routines to work around them and aim to provide some remedial relief as you train.

If you have a more serious injury that you are worried about but have not yet received a medical diagnosis, I would recommend that you seek medical advice so that you can understand the nature of your injury and how best to respond to it.

If you have received a medical diagnosis (and have not been told to avoid all physical activity) then we will be able to create a programme for you that works around your injury and supports your rehabilitation.

If you are unsure about your situation then the best thing is to get in touch to discuss.

  • I want to tone up/lose weight — will training help me?

Training will help you burn calories and establish fitness habits that can help you increase muscle tone and burn excess fat. However, my primary aim when we work together is to help you get fitter and stronger and improve your physical and mental well-being.

  • What are your sessions like?

I keep things down to earth and accessible, offering different levels of intensity to suit a range of abilities. The goal is to get you moving, work your body, and inspire and energise you.

I'll help you understand how to build on your abilities and motivate you to learn new skills and develop your capacity.

  • Do you cater to different body types, genders, ethnicities?

I strive to make training accessible to as many people as possible. You should feel welcome and supported no matter what, regardless of body type, gender, or ethnicity.

If you have any needs or concerns you would like to discuss then please get in touch.

  • Where do sessions take place?

1:1 and small group sessions are available in-person in South East London and online. In-person sessions can take place at my studio, at your home, or outdoors in local parks when weather permits.

Get in touch to discuss what works best for you.

  • Can training help with mental health?

Getting stronger and fitter, learning new skills, and overcoming physical challenges can help to promote a sense of achievement, improve your outlook on life, and encourage a growth mindset.

When you engage in movement or physical exercise it triggers the release of various "feel good" neurotransmitters including endorphins, endocannabinoids, and dopamine. They can lead to an elevated mood during and after exercise. Regular exercise can help to alleviate feelings of depression or anxiety and increase feelings of wellbeing.

If you are experiencing strong feelings of depression, anxiety, or any other mental health condition, I would always encourage you to seek advice from a qualified health professional such as your GP.
