Do I need to be fit to start training or practising yoga
with you?
Short answer — "No" 😎
We like to work with people no matter where they are starting from on their fitness journey. We love to work with beginners to help build effective programmes and establish strong and lasting routines.

I have an injury — is it safe to train?
This really depends on your situation and the nature of the injury... However, the answer is probably "yes!"
The vast majority of the time it is safe to train with an injury and is to be encouraged! Injuries are inevitable in life (even more so as we age) and learning how to adapt your training and continue to move with injuries is vital to staying in good physical and mental health. Kicking back and doing nothing will result in losing conditioning, strength, flexibility, etc., and can lead to further dysfunction in the body as well as having a negative impact on your mental health.
If you have any minor injuries or localised discomfort we will be able to modify routines to work around them and aim to provide some remedial relief as you practice/train.
If you have a more serious injury that you are worried about but have not yet received a medical diagnosis we would recommend that you seek medical advice so that you can understand the nature of your injury and how best to respond to it.
If you have received a medical diagnosis (and have not been told to avoid all physical activity — i.e. you have not been prescribed "full rest" — a rarity these days!) then we will be able to create an exercise programme for you that works around your injury and supports your rehabilitation.
Having an injury diagnosis allows us to be clear about the nature and cause of an injury and for us to respond accordingly when we work together.
So let's keep moving and keep motivated!
If you are unsure about your situation then the best thing it to arrange a free video consultation to discuss your personal situation.

I want to tone up/lose weight — will your
classes help me?
Many people hope to alter their body shape when they embark on a course of training. Both our yoga and PT classes will help you to burn calories and allow you to establish fitness habits that can help you increase muscle tone and burn excess fat. However, our primary aim when we work with you is to help you get fitter and stronger and improve your physical and mental well-being.

What are your classes like?
Here at Wild and Physical we like to keep things down to earth and accessible, and can offer different levels of exercise and intensity to suit a range of abilities. We want to get you moving, work your body, and inspire and energise you.
We'll help you understand how to build on your abilities and motivate you to learn new skills and level up your fitness.

Do you cater to different body types, genders,
ethnicities?
We wish to be as inclusive as possible and strive to make sure our yoga and PT classes are accessible to as many people as possible. We would like to make sure you feel welcome and supported no matter what, regardless of body type, gender, or ethnicity.
If you have any needs or concerns you would like to discuss then you can explore them with us on free consultation call or else drop us a message using our contact form.
-
Where do your classes take place?
We cover most areas in South East London. Please refer to our full list of locations to see if we can offer classes in your area.
For yoga tuition we will arrange to visit you in your own home or in one of our practice spaces. If you are taking Wild Motion PT classes then when possible (and weather permitting) we like to train outside in local parks, woodlands, etc. If you would prefer to train indoors at your home or elsewhere then we can adapt our training to suit this.
If you are interested in hosting a yoga or Wild Motion class at your workplace you can find out more on our group classes page or else make an enquiry using our contact form. All enquiries will be treated with the utmost confidence.

Can yoga or personal training help with mental
health
issues?
Getting stronger and fitter, learning new skills, and overcoming physical challenges can help to promote a sense of achievement, improve your outlook on life, and encourage a growth mindset. Having a more functional and robust physique can boost your confidence to undertake new or adventurous activities elsewhere in life.
When you engage in movement or physical exercise it triggers the release of various "feel good" neurotransmitters including endorphins, endocannabinoids, and dopamine. They can lead to an elevated mood (a "natural high") during and after exercise. Exercise also increases levels of serotonin which can lead to increased feelings of stability.
When you exercise regularly these combined effects can help to alleviate feelings of depression or anxiety and increasing feelings of wellbeing.
Also, if you are able to train with others in a group you get the chance to become part of a community and have an opportunity to make new friends and create new social bonds.
In summary, exercise can form a key part in tackling poor mental health and bringing about positive and lasting change.
Lastly, if you are experiencing strong feelings of depression, anxiety, or any other mental health condition, we would always encourage you to seek advice from a qualified health professional such as your GP.
